Doesn't Windows Defender do all my patching and antivirus?
Microsoft Defender (Windows Defender) provides a solid baseline level of protection, but on its own it isn’t enough for most business environments. While it offers antivirus capabilities, it doesn’t deliver the full range of layered security, centralised management, reporting and advanced threat detection that businesses need.
It also doesn’t replace proper patch management — keeping operating systems and third-party software up to date requires dedicated monitoring and control to ensure nothing is missed.
For effective protection, businesses should use a combination of endpoint security, patch management, monitoring and user awareness. Relying on a single tool increases risk, whereas a layered approach provides far stronger defence against modern cyber threats.
